Abstract

The invention relates to a method for producing subcooled carbon dioxide snow, in which liquid carbon dioxide is introduced into an expansion chamber (5) at the level of an expansion nozzle (2), where the liquid carbon dioxide is expanded, and carbon dioxide snow is thus produced. The mixture is then separated into a phase consisting mainly of carbon dioxide snow and a phase consisting mainly of gaseous carbon dioxide. This method is characterized in that a vacuum is produced, at least in the area of ​​the expansion nozzle (2), by means of a flow in the expansion chamber (5) created during the expansion of the liquid carbon dioxide, where the liquid carbon dioxide is expanded. Finely pulverized subcooled carbon dioxide snow is thus produced.
