Abstract
The invention relates to metal-organic structures (MOFs) comprising photosensitizers. The MOFs may also include fragments capable of absorbing X-rays and / or scintillation. Optionally, the photosensitizer or a derivative thereof may form a bridging ligand for the MOF. Furthermore, the MOF may optionally include inorganic nanoparticles within its cavities or channels, or may be used in combination with an inorganic nanoparticle. The invention also relates to methods of using MOFs and / or inorganic nanoparticles in photodynamic therapy or X-ray-induced photodynamic therapy, with or without co-administration of one or more immunotherapeutic agents and / or one or more chemotherapeutic agents.
