Abstract

In prior art reheating ovens, the products to be heated pass successively through a preheating zone and one or more heating or equalization zones, where the products are gradually brought to their final temperature, determined for further processing. To reduce the residence time of the products within the oven and thus minimize the risk of scale formation on the product surface, the preheating zone is, according to the invention, equipped, at least in certain sections, with oxygen burners designed so that the combustion gases exiting them form a flame which, when the device is in operation, reaches the surface of the products. Direct contact with the flame increases the efficiency of heat transfer and thus reduces the residence time of the products.
