Abstract

In a multi-burst incapacitating device (10) containing a number of pyrotechnic cartridges (22) arranged in series and an ignition device (14), the first cartridge is ignited by the ignition system, the remaining cartridges being ignited sequentially by the pressure and heat flash (hot gases) produced during the detonation of a previous cartridge in the series. The device comprises a housing (12) having a number of compartments (20) into which the cartridges are received. The housing defines passages interconnecting the series compartments and the first compartment with the ignition system. Each compartment is also fluidically connected to the atmosphere.
