Description

technical field

[0001] The present invention claims priority from French application 1871866 filed on November 26, 2018, the content of which (text, drawings and claims) is incorporated herein by reference

[0002] The invention relates to the field of motor vehicles, more particularly to a front structure of a motor vehicle. Previous technique

[0003] A front structure of a motor vehicle includes, on each side of the vehicle, a front fender liner. Each liner also serves as a support for a lateral dashboard crossmember, and, in front of said supports, for a lower windshield bay crossmember.

[0004] The published patent document EP 3 312 055 A1 discloses a fastener for an automotive electrical harness. This fastener comprises a base designed to engage in an opening in a support, such as a metal tube, and a band attached to the base and configured to encircle an electrical harness for attachment to the support. Such a fastener is advantageous because it is, in principle, inexpensive and provides a stable attachment for a lightweight component such as an electrical harness. However, it requires the presence of a support in the immediate vicinity of the desired attachment point for the electrical harness.

[0005] The published patent document FR 3 063 468 A1 discloses a mounting and guiding plate for pipes and / or wiring harnesses running within a windshield pillar. This plate, fixed to the pillar frame, holds the harnesses and pipes in place, notably to facilitate the integration of a high-frequency loudspeaker (a "tweeter") into the pillar. This plate is therefore specifically designed for a windshield pillar and is of little use in other locations.

[0006] The published patent document FR 2 924 666) discloses a front structure of a motor vehicle body, but does not disclose that the structure further includes, on at least one side of the vehicle, a passenger compartment beam support bearing on the corresponding side support of the dashboard crossmember and on the lower crossmember of the bay. Description of the invention

[0007] The invention aims to overcome at least one of the drawbacks of the aforementioned prior art. More specifically, the invention aims to protect the passenger compartment wiring harness from impacts, particularly during the installation of the dashboard in the vehicle.

[0008] The invention relates to a front body structure for a motor vehicle, comprising: on each side of the vehicle, a side support for the dashboard crossmember attached to a front wing lining, and a lower bay crossmember positioned in front of the side supports, and attached laterally to the front wing linings, remarkable in that the structure further comprises, on at least one side of the vehicle, a passenger compartment wiring harness support resting on the corresponding side support for the dashboard crossmember and on the lower bay crossmember.

[0009] The passenger compartment wiring harness is advantageously an electrical wiring harness.

[0010] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the beam support or each of the beam supports comprises a vertical rear portion with a notch forming the support on the side support of the dashboard crossmember.

[0011] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the vertical rear portion of the beam support(s) includes a beam attachment hole. The beam is advantageously secured by a fastener with a clip that engages in the hole and a flexible collar that encircles the beam. Such a fastener is well known in itself.

[0012] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the vertical rear portion of the beam support(s) is inclined at an angle between 30° and 60° with respect to a longitudinal direction.

[0013] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the vertical rear portion of the beam support(s) is at a distance from the adjacent front wing lining so as to form, between said portion and said lining, a passage for the beam.

[0014] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the side support of the dashboard crossmember on which the beam support(s) rests includes a notch that engages with the notch of the vertical rear portion of said beam support.

[0015] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the notch of the side support(s) of the dashboard crossmember is horizontal.

[0016] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the beam support(s) comprise a front portion bearing on the lower crossmember of the bay. This support can be secured by a rotating fastener, such as a screw, or by means of a welded stud.

[0017] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the front portion of the beam support(s) is horizontal or inclined at less than 30° with respect to a horizontal plane.

[0018] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, for each or all of the beam supports, the corresponding notch in the corresponding side support of the dashboard crossmember is configured to form a rotational stop for said beam support. This stop is advantageously in two directions of rotation, the rotation being around a vertical axis or inclined at less than 30° to a vertical direction.

[0019] Advantageously, the beam support(s) are made of plastic material and are a single piece.

[0020] The features of the invention are interesting because they protect the passenger compartment wiring harness during dashboard installation by creating a protective space at the junction between the pillar and the fender liner. This support prevents the harness from being crushed. The double notch system on the rear portion of the harness support and on the lateral dashboard crossmember prevents both sagging of the harness support and rotation at the mounting point in the front portion. Furthermore, securing the harness support with a single mounting point in the front portion avoids excessive weighting of the structure. Finally, the harness support is lighter because it is made of plastic materials, and it is also easy to manufacture and install within the structure.

[0021] Other features and advantages of the present invention will be better understood with the aid of the description and drawings. Brief description of the drawings

The front fender liner 7 also surmounts a wheel 13. At the junction between the front fender liner 7 and the bay pillar 9 passes a passenger compartment wiring harness (visible in the figures 4 And 5 ), which is advantageously an electrical harness. It became necessary to protect this harness from impacts, caused in particular by the insertion of a dashboard (not visible in these figures) during the assembly of vehicle 1. This protection is made possible by the presence of a passenger compartment harness support (visible in the figures 3 to 5). The direction arrow x indicates the direction of movement of vehicle 1, in all of these figures.

[0024] There figure 2 shows a more detailed view of the junction between the wing liner and a lower bay crossmember, without the cabin beam support according to the invention. The lower bay crossmember 17 extends longitudinally below the windshield (visible in the figure 1 ), and comprises a horizontal portion 17A and a vertical portion 17B. The vertical portion 17B extends perpendicularly to the rear of the horizontal portion 17A and downwards when the lower bay crossmember 17 is in the mounting position on the vehicle. The lower bay crossmember 17 further comprises two lateral ends 17C, which allow the crossmember 17 to be attached to the front fender liners 7. The horizontal portion 17A of the crossmember 17 may further comprise a raised platform 17A.1, the function of which will be described in figures 4 And 5 .

[0025] On each side of the vehicle, the front wing liner 7 has an upper end 7A suitable for being attached to a bay pillar (visible at Figures 1 And 4 ), a front portion 7C which receives the lateral end 17C of the lower bay crossmember 17, and a vertical portion 7B for attaching a lateral support 15 for the dashboard crossmember. This lateral support 15 is positioned behind the lower bay crossmember 17, and comprises an elongated main portion 15A, with an L-shaped cross-section, which extends along the vertical portion 7B of the front fender liner 7. At the upper end of the main portion 15A is an upper wall 15B, with an advantageously horizontal notch 15B.1, the function of which will be discussed in figures 4 And 5 .

[0026] There figure 3is a perspective view of the passenger compartment wiring harness support according to the invention. This passenger compartment wiring harness support 23 (visible in figures 4 And 5) is advantageously located on at least one side of the vehicle, more preferably on both sides. This beam support 23 comprises a vertical rear portion 25 and a front portion 27. The vertical rear portion 25 has a notch 25B in a rear end 25A, and an opening 25C positioned centrally in said rear portion 25. This beam support 23 further comprises the front portion 27 attached to the rear portion 25 by an angled portion 29. The rear portion 25 extends preferably from the rear midpoint of the front portion 27. The front portion 27 is horizontal or inclined at less than 30° to a horizontal plane (angle β). This front portion 27 further comprises an extension 27A, oriented towards the front of the vehicle, with an opening 27B, the function of which will be described in the figures 4 And 5 .

[0027] THE figures 4 And 5show, respectively, a view of the interior of the front structure described in the figure 2with the passenger compartment wiring harness support, and a cross-sectional view at the opening of the vertical rear portion of said support. In these figures, it can be seen that the passenger compartment wiring harness support 23 21 rests on the corresponding dashboard crossmember lateral support 15 and on the lateral end 17C of the corresponding lower crossmember 17 of the bay. In particular, the vertical rear portion 25 of the wiring harness support 23 21, via the notch 25B, bears against the upper wall 15B of the lateral support 15, at the notch 15B.1, which is engaged with the notch 25B of the wiring harness support 23 21. Furthermore, this rear portion 25 is inclined at an angle α between 30° and 60° with respect to a longitudinal direction. In addition, the front portion 27 of the beam support 23 21 is supported on the lower bay cross member 17, more specifically supported on the raised platform 17A.1.The opening in the front portion 27 of the support 23 for the wiring harness 21 accommodates a fastening element 31A, this element 31A preferably being a screw or a welded stud, in order to ensure a seal in the area.
