Abstract
The present invention relates to magnetic refrigeration technology based on the magnetocaloric effect. In particular, the invention proposes a new material for magnetic refrigeration applications that has a Curie temperature close to or lower than ambient temperature, and offers significantly superior refrigeration performance compared to conventional materials when subjected to a field change of up to 5 Tesla, which is assumed to be achievable with a permanent magnet.
