Abstract

The invention relates to the field of chemical sensors and the physics of dielectric liquids, and in particular to devices for selective detection of ammonia (NH3) based on nonlinear electrohydrodynamic phenomena in thin dielectric liquid films.The device, according to the invention, comprises a test chamber with a flow channel (7) for ammonia, secured to a support structure (10), wherein a lower electrode (1) is secured to the test chamber, onto which a liquid dielectric film (2) is applied, with electrodes (3) integrated on the sides for measuring the electrical parameters of the film (2), and an upper electrode (5) placed above the film (2) at a distance. The device also comprises an electric power source (6), to which are connected the upper (5) and lower (1) electrodes and which is configured to apply an electric field to the film (2). The film (2) is made of a liquid or viscoelastic dielectric polymer, chemically functionalized with amine groups (-NH2).
