Abstract

A needle assembly configured to be part of a drug delivery device includes a plurality of extendable and retractable needles. The needles are fluidly coupled by a flexible connector configured to maintain fluid connection between the needles during movement thereof. When the needles are extended, a first needle pierces the skin of a patient and a second needle pierces a septum of a drug cartridge to deliver a drug. After the drug has been delivered, the needles can be retracted into a housing of the needle assembly. The needle assembly can also be part of a partially disposable drug delivery device and can be used with a plurality of different drug cartridges. Several embodiments of the needle assembly are disclosed.
