Abstract

The invention relates to describing terminals (200) having at least one first connection port (236) intended to mate with a first connector footprint and at least one second connection port (260) intended to mate with a second connector footprint, wherein the second connection port inhibits the harmful insertion of an external connector suitable for the first connection port (236). For example, the terminals may have at least one single-fiber connection port (236) capable of receiving and optically mating with a single-fiber male connector, and at least one multi-fiber optical connection port (260) capable of receiving and optically mating with a multi-fiber connector and inhibiting the harmful insertion of an incompatible single-fiber connector into the multi-fiber optical connection port if the technician attempts to do so in error. Other embodiments may include a modular adapter subassembly for the first connection port or the second connection port.
