FOOD COMPOSITION THAT ATTRACTS PEST INSECTS AFFECTING AGRICULTURAL CROPS

Abstract

A biodegradable and environmentally friendly attractant composition made from sprouted seeds of sorghum, wheat, alfalfa, broccoli, or combinations thereof, optionally a citrus flavedo, optionally a sugar, and Saccharomyces cerevisiae, and its preparation process. The composition of the present invention is a food composition that is useful for preventing, reducing, and controlling insect pests of economically important food crops, as well as for decreasing the use of toxic compounds and increasing productivity in the field. The attractant composition of the present invention is particularly suitable for attracting lepidopteran insects, preferably Spodoptera frugiperda, and dipteran insects, preferably Dosophila melanogaster and Musca domestica.
