Abstract

Accordingly, embodiments herein disclose a viscoelastic damping device (100) for dissipating input energy through a rotational deformation in viscoelastic material, comprising of two metallic cylinders consisting of an inner metallic cylinder (1) and an outer metallic cylinder (2); two fixing metallic plates (3, 4) which are located in front and back side of the inner metallic cylinder (1); a loading arm (5) connected on the outer metallic cylinder (2); and a cylindrical-shaped viscoelastic material (6) placed in between the inner and outer metallic cylinders (1, 2). The energy dissipation and the other mechanical properties of the viscoelastic damping device (100) are controlled by three parameters. When one of the parameters is increased, the ultimate load capacity of damping device (100) is increased, therefore the three parameters are determined based on the applied force to the viscoelastic damping device (100) and the required damping capacity.
