[0004] The present invention relates to a protective packaging for suitcases whose obvious purpose is to provide a means of protection for suitcases, especially designed for use in airports, bus stations, train stations and the like.
[0005] The object of the invention is to provide a means that, in addition to protecting the suitcase from knocks, scratches and the like, determines a means that shows evidence of any improper manipulation of the suitcase.
[0006] The invention aims to provide a new protective means, with which, once installed, the suitcase can be used conventionally, that is, leaving its telescopic handle and wheels operational, all with a more ecological and environmentally friendly structure, 100% recyclable.
[0007] BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0008] As is well known, when traveling on airplanes, buses, and even trains, if suitcases exceed a certain volume, they must be stored in the cargo hold or in containers separate from the passenger's. This makes them susceptible to tampering, for example, to steal belongings inside.
[0009] Trying to circumvent this problem, there are well-known packing services that wrap the suitcase in a large number of layers of transparent plastic film. Removing the film wastes significant time and often discourages any opportunists, as well as exposing any tampering. The fundamental problem with this system is that it involves the use of a large volume of plastic, with the resulting environmental problems.
[0010] EXPLANATION OF THE INVENTION
[0011] The recommended protective packaging for suitcases fully resolves the aforementioned problem, based on a simple but effective solution.
[0012] To this end, and more specifically, the packaging of the invention is made from a prismatic cardboard box, with an elongated rectangular base, in short, with dimensions appropriate to the suitcase to be contained within, obtained from the development of a die-cut cardboard sheet, in which from a horizontally elongated rectangular sector, with four vertical folding lines, the four side walls of the box and the closing tab are defined by gluing it together so as to obtain a foldable tubular body that is easy to assemble, in which only the bottom and the upper base need to be assembled as will be described below.
[0013] From the lower edges of the side walls, four tabs emerge with their corresponding folding lines, with double-sided adhesive tape and some notches that during assembly determine spaces for the suitcase's wheels, the lower face of which, once assembled, by virtue of the aforementioned adhesive, cannot be removed.
[0014] Four folding flaps emerge from the upper edges of the box's side walls, also equipped with adhesive for gluing them together, and with cutouts that create a window for the suitcase's telescopic handle.
[0015] One of these tabs, specifically the one attached to one of the larger sides, will have a longitudinal tear line that allows the user to access the interior of the container once the trip is complete by tearing it open.
[0016] Finally, it remains to be noted that the smaller side walls of the case may also include tear lines that create rectangular windows for access to the hand-held handle that some cases feature on one of their smaller sides. This structure offers the following advantages:
[0017] 100% ecological, recyclable and environmentally friendly product, which avoids the use of plastics.
[0018] Greater ease (and less time) of both installation and removal.
[0019] It offers a higher level of protection to the suitcase against bumps and scratches.
[0020] Inviolable system that shows evidence of any type of improper manipulation.
[0021] It offers a large labeling surface, ideal for advertising. It improves baggage stability in the cargo hold, thanks to its perfectly prismatic-rectangular body.

[0028] PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION
[0029] In view of the figures shown, it can be observed how the packaging of the invention is constituted from the development of a die-cut cardboard sheet, in which a larger, rectangular, horizontally elongated sector is defined, which by means of vertical folding lines determine the two larger faces (1-1') and smaller faces (2-2') of a rectangular prismatic container, a prism that is formed through the fixing of a tab (3) laterally associated with one of the larger faces (1) and that is fixed to the free smaller face (2), as shown in figure 3, with the particularity that from the lower edges of the larger faces (1-1') emerge larger tabs (4-4') with their corresponding folding lines, the smaller faces (2-2') having smaller tabs (5-5'), all of them intended to form the bottom by gluing them with double-sided adhesive tape, not shown in the figures, which will be supplied glued to a of said eyelashes,and with its other side protected with a waxed or silicone paper that will be removed when assembling the box, the larger tabs (4-4') presenting rectangular notches (6) that affect both their interior and exterior vertices, while the smaller tabs present rectangular notches (7) that only affect their interior vertices, so that when assembling the bottom, both notches determine windows for the wheels of the suitcase to be packed.
[0030] As for the upper mouth of the packaging, in correspondence with the upper edges of the walls or larger side faces (1-1') a front tab (10) and a rear tab (9) are established, the first with a "II" notch (13) on its free upper edge, while the second incorporates a rectangular notch (14) in correspondence with the hinging area of said tab, and which partially affects the upper end of said larger side face (T), while from the smaller side faces (2-2') emerge smaller tabs (11-11') which include an "L" notch (12) on their rear and upper edge, so that these notches coincide in the closure of the upper mouth of the container forming a single common window through which the telescopic handle of the suitcase is removable.
[0031] For said closure, once the suitcase has been inserted into its core properly oriented, the smaller tabs (11-11') will be folded, then the front tab (10), and finally, after removing the corresponding sheet of waxed paper established on one or more double-sided adhesives fixed to the inner face of the rear tab (9), said tab will be fixed in an immovable manner on the front tab (10).
[0032] The rear tab (9), the only one visible once the container is closed, will have a longitudinal tear line (15) that allows the glued area of said tab to be separated from the front tab, so that to extract the suitcase said tear line must be broken, evidencing its manipulation.
[0033] It only remains to point out finally that the smaller side faces are susceptible to incorporating rectangular climbing lines (16) in their middle area, determining windows for the passage of the corresponding manual grip handle that some suitcases incorporate in one of their side faces.
Claims
CLAIMS 1 a- Suitcase protector comprising a cardboard packaging characterized in that it is constituted from the development of a die-cut cardboard sheet, in which a major, rectangular, horizontally elongated sector is defined, which by means of vertical folding lines determines the two larger (1-1') and smaller (2-2') faces of a rectangular prismatic container, a prism that is formed by fixing a tab (3) associated laterally to one of the larger faces (1) and which is fixed by adhesive to the free smaller face (2), forming a foldable rectangular prism, with the particularity that from the lower edges of the larger (1-1') and smaller (2-2') faces emerge foldable tabs with means of fixing by means of adhesive determining the bottom of the container, in which notches have been provided in correspondence with its vertices, determining passage windows for the wheels of the suitcase to be packed,Whereas the upper opening of the container includes a pair of smaller closing tabs (11-11'), which are complemented by a front tab (10) and a rear tab (9), provided with adhesive fixing means, as well as notches that define a window for the passage of the telescopic handle of the suitcase; the rear tab (9) being provided to include a longitudinal tear line (15) that allows the glued area of said tab to be detached from the front tab (10). 2 a - Suitcase protector comprising cardboard packaging according to claim 1 a , characterized in that on at least one of the smaller side faces of the container and in correspondence with its middle zone, rectangular climbing lines (16) are established determining a window for the passage of the corresponding manual grip handle of the suitcase housed within it. 5
