Method for rapid determination of prognosis of visual impairment associated with pterygium and system thereof

Abstract

The present invention discloses a method for rapidly determining a prognosis of visual impairment associated with pterygium and a system thereof. The method comprises the steps of receiving an image representing a pterygium tissue of an eye of a patient, retrieving attributes associated with the pterygium tissue selected from a group comprising redness, thickness, length, total area, dry weight and fleshiness, subjecting the image and the attributes thereof to a machine learning model trained using training data derived from clinical laboratory tests selected from a group comprising support vector machine, decision tree, Na"ive Bayes, logistic regression, majority vote, AdaBoost, bagging classification algorithms and any combinations thereof for the pterygium to determine a score of best-corrected visual acuity, BCVA; and comparing the said score of BCVA against a threshold.
