Abstract

-17- A process for a process for a production of fatty acid products for use in animal feed The present invention relates to a method for producing purified soap fractions from crude palm oil, which are suitable for use in animal feed, specifically for livestock such as cows, poultry, and pigs. More particularly, the invention involves a process wherein crude palm oil is reacted with sodium hydroxide (NaOH) or other alkaline earth metals to produce soaps, sodium salts of fatty acids. The soap mixture is then purified to remove the glycerol and produce crude palm free fatty acids. The acids is then split into its high—melting and low—melting fatty acid fractions through a dry fractionation process. The dry fractionation step effectively separates the soap into distinct fractions based on their melting points, resulting in high—quality fatty acid fractions with different properties, which can be optimized for animal nutrition. The use of crude palm oil as a raw material for soap production offers an efficient and sustainable source of fatty acids.
