Abstract

A preferred embodiment of this invention addresses the problem of inefficient staircase construction. It involves a staircase comprising a stringer and a tread bracket. The bracket having a pair of side legs (eg plates) one fastened to either side of the stringer and a bridge (eg a plate) spaced from and extending across the top of the stringer to connect the legs, the tread bracket also having a mount (eg a pair of horizontal plates) to which a stair tread is supportively secured above the stringer. The tread bracket is formed so that there is sufficient distance (eg about 50 mm) between the bottom of its side legs and its bridge to enable the bracket to be secured at a variety of heights above the stringer during installation to give the tread height adjustability.
