Improvements relating to installation of ribbon plates

Abstract

A method of installing a ribbon plate (1) over a wall plate (10), said method comprising: arranging the ribbon plate (1) over the wall plate (10), said arranging comprising locating the ribbon plate (1) relative to the wall plate (10); and driving into one of the ribbon plate (1) and the wall plate (10) at least one fastener (3, 13) extending along a respective preformed passage in the other of the ribbon plate (1) and the wall plate (10), whereby the fastener (3, 13) is guided by the passage to be located correctly in the plate (1, 10) into which it is driven in a connection thus formed between the wall plate (10) and the ribbon plate (1), wherein the passage has been, before said arranging, preformed in the other of the ribbon plate (1) and the wall plate (10). The invention solves the problem of reliably securing ribbon plates under eccentric roof loads by guiding fasteners along preformed passages to ensure correct placement and load transfer.
