Abstract

The invention relates to a method of installing at least one sleeve around a portion of a subsea fluid transport pipeline, the sleeve (8) being formed by two half-shells (8a, 8b). the method comprising maintaining the pipe in a predominantly vertical position, gripping the two half-shells of the sleeve (8) on their inner face by a sleeve loading system (100) positioned on one side of the pipe, aligning the two half-shells with the axis (YY) of the pipe, the gripping of the two half-shells by their external face by a positioning and locking system for the sleeves (200) positioned on one side of the pipe opposite to that of the sleeve loading system, the pivoting of each half-shell around an internal axis (ZZ) aligned with the axis of the pipe to close it on a portion of the pipe, the positioning of the sleeve along the axis of the pipe, the complete closure and locking of the two half-shells on the pipe portion, and the removal of the sleeve positioning and locking system.
