COMPOSITION BASED ON AGAVE AND DIATOMITE WITH CONTROLLED BIOCIDAL ACTIVITY ON LICHENS ON LITHIC SUBSTRATES

Abstract

The present invention relates to an agave and diatomite-based composition with controlled biocidal activity against lichens on lithic substrates, comprising: 78%–95% pulverized diatomite sediment and 5%–22% aqueous extract of agave sap. The invention is a compatible, safe, and non-invasive alternative, based on components of mineral and plant origin, whose action allows for the controlled removal of lichens without causing physical or chemical damage to the lithic surface, thus preserving the integrity of cultural heritage.
