EMERGENCY CRICOTHYROTOMY DEVICE WITH INTEGRATED PASSIVE SAFETY MECHANISM FOR NEEDLE RETRACTION

Abstract

An emergency cricothyrotomy device with an integrated passive safety mechanism for needle retraction of the type comprising a syringe having a cylinder connected to a cricothyrotomy needle and a rubber pin that moves with the support of its internal plunger, characterized in that: there is a conical body protector with a length of 40% - 45% of the length of the needle installed at the end of the needle closest to the syringe cylinder, said protector being movable and able to be dragged along the needle; likewise, there is a fixed circular notch installed between 60% - 80% of the length of the needle, closer to its tip, which serves as a stop for the base of the conical body protector; a cannula with a protective sleeve attached to the base of the cannula by means of a retaining strap is installed on the conical body protector;and there is an outer container attached to the syringe cylinder being connected to the cylinder by means of an orifice covered by a seal with a notch that protrudes into the interior of the cylinder, where the outer container incorporates distilled water or sterile saline solution inside.
