POLYSULFIDE COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS FOR ORE SEPARATION

Abstract

A froth flotation composition is provided for the separation of certain minerals in an ore. The composition may comprise an aqueous medium, a frother, a collector formulation, and optionally a pH modifier, the collector formulation specifically including at least one polysulfide collector having one or more -Sβ- groups where n is at least 3 and comprising a sulfur content of 9% w / w to 45% w / w, based on the total weight of the polysulfide. A method for separating minerals in an ore is also provided. The method may include introducing the components of the froth flotation composition into a separation apparatus and separating part or all of the ore into a plurality of minerals, for example, to form a mineral concentrate.
