Abstract
This invention relates to the method of producing dietary fiber from sugarcane bagasse, obtained as agricultural by-product generated from sugar processing. Fresh or fermented sugarcane bagasse are recovered, washed, and dried until they reach a moisture content of 5.0% or less. To improve its solubility and palatability, the dried sugarcane bagasse are ground in a jet miller to reduce its particle size to 250 μm or less. The fine powder obtained from the jet mill are packed in appropriate packaging material and kept at room temperature for subsequent use as an intermediate raw material. The product sugarcane bagasse dietary fiber (SCB-DF) can be used as source of dietary fiber in the preparation of beverages, bakery products, meat products or other food products.
