Spray-dried freshwater microalgae biomass and method of producing thereof

Abstract

The present invention discloses a spray-dried freshwater microalgae biomass and its optimized production method through Response Surface Methodology to select the optimal drying conditions of diluting the freshwater microalgae input concentration of 35.968%, inlet temperature of 200.88 °C, and flow rate of 30.146%. The resulting dried microalgae biomass product using the optimized conditions presented responses with less than 10% moisture content, water activity of <0.4, and the least processing time with the most recovery yield. These properties help preserve the product's quality for a longer period. In addition, the developed product using the described method is intended to be used for applications such as but not limited to aquafeeds application.
