Abstract

The present invention relates to a compact, portable, and modular plasma gasification system designed for the efficient treatment of solid waste. The system utilizes a cylindrical reactor vessel with a conical bottom section, equipped with a centrally positioned plasma torch powered by a high-current direct current (DC) supply. This plasma torch operates in a non-transferred arc configuration using operating gases such as argon, nitrogen, oxygen, air, or steam. The system achieves high energy densities and temperatures, enabling rapid gasification, high reactant transfer rates, and the melting of high-temperature materials. It converts solid waste into valuable syngas and vitrified slag, with reduced off-gas flow rates and lower gas cleaning costs. This system's portable and modular design makes it ideal for a variety of industrial waste treatment applications, offering environmental and operational efficiency.
