Abstract
The utility model relates to a horizontal ribbon mixer (10) designed for uniform salt iodization, comprising a horizontal cylindrical mixing chamber constructed from Stainless Steel 316 and fixed at a 5° longitudinal tilt for improved material flow. A double-helical ribbon assembly (20) mounted on a central shaft (21) includes an outer ribbon (22) configured clockwise and an inner ribbon (23) configured counterclockwise to generate axial and radial mixing patterns that recirculate salt throughout the chamber. The mixer integrates a precision iodine dosing system utilizing a direct-current (DC) brushless diaphragm pump with 4–20 mA analog signal control to deliver iodine solution through three equidistant injection points equipped with atomizing nozzles. A pressurized air source assists in creating a fine mist that coats salt particles during agitation. A drive system including a 3 HP motor (51) rotates the ribbon assembly at the required mixing speed. The configuration enables consistent iodine distribution and efficient batch processing for salt iodization.
