Abstract

This utility model discloses a process for producing herbal leaf tea powder from Manilkara zapota (Chico) leaves through a controlled oven-drying method that enhances aroma, flavor, and color while maintaining hygienic and efficient production. The process comprises the steps of collecting mature Chico leaves, washing to remove contaminants, oven-drying at controlled temperatures between 60°C and 100°C for 2.25 to 4 hours, grinding to achieve a particle size of 0.5 mm to 1.0 mm, and sieving through a mesh size of 80 to 100 to obtain uniform fine powder. The resulting product exhibits a Pantone color 581, a pH level of approximately 5, insolubility in water, and very good sensory ratings for aroma and flavor. The method provides a cost-efficient, sustainable, and weather-independent alternative to conventional sun-drying, making it suitable for both community-based and commercial tea production.
