Abstract
This utility model relates to a larvicidal composition derived from commonly available household plants, specifically oregano (Origanum vulgare) and citronella (Cymbopogon nardus). The utility model involves subjecting mosquito larvae to varying concentrations of oregano and citronella leaf extracts and monitoring their mortality rates. The utility model further provides oregano and citronella leaf extracts both had strong larvicidal effects on mosquito larvae. Increased concentrations of the extracts resulted in increased levels of dose-dependent death for the larvae. The 15mL oregano and 15mL citronella leaf extracts possess potent larvicidal properties and can potentially be utilized as natural alternatives for mosquito control measures. The utilization of these plant-based extracts may offer a sustainable and naturally based mosquito control, contributing to the reduction of mosquito-borne diseases in affected regions.
