A feed composition for sows

Abstract

The present utility model discloses a gestating sow feed composition formulated from locally available and sustainable ingredients to provide balanced nutrition and improved gut health. The feed comprises 34% ground corn, 10% soybean oil meal (SBOM), 45% Giant Swamp Taro (Cyrtosperma merkusii) meal, 3% Janitor Fish (Pterygoplichthys disjunctivus) fishmeal, 3% hard pollard, 2% rice bran D2, 2% molasses, 0.5% salt, and 0.5% premix. Giant Swamp Taro meal serves as the primary starch-based energy source, while janitor fishmeal provides an alternative protein source. The formulation is further supplemented with the probiotic Lactobacillus plantarum at 1×108 CFU per gram of feed to enhance gut health and nutrient utilization, providing approximately 12–12.9% crude protein and 3,265 kcal / kg metabolizable energy suitable for gestating sows.
