COMPOSITION OF ASTHMA PLANT (Euphorbia hirta L.) AQUEOUS EXTRACT BIOHERBICIDE

Abstract

The utility model discloses a bioherbicide composition derived from Euphorbia hirta L. aqueous extract for managing cogon grass (Imperata cylindrica L.), a globally significant invasive weed in rice fields and vegetable crops. Produced through simple 24-hour water immersion extraction, the bioherbicide comprises 10% asthma plant material and 90% unchlorinated water by weight, applied via direct spraying at 1:10 water dilution. Laboratory experiments demonstrate efficacy in controlling cogon grass infestations. The bioherbicide provides a sustainable, environmentally friendly, and cost-effective alternative to synthetic herbicides, reducing reliance on chemical inputs while supporting low-input organic farming practices for smallholder farmers.
