A plant-based soap with bottle gourd and tomato pomace

Abstract

Existing plant-based soaps generally rely on plant juices, extracts, powders, or commercially available soap bases and do not disclose the combined use of bottle gourd pomace and tomato pomace in a single formulation. To address this need, the composition comprises a lipid base comprising palm oil, coconut oil, shea butter, and rice bran oil; bottle gourd pomace derived from the peel and flesh of bottle gourd (Lagenaria siceraria); tomato pomace derived from the peel and flesh of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum); a colorant; and one or more natural essential oils, wherein the lipid base is subjected to saponification using sodium hydroxide and distilled water.
