Automated control method for movable shading members

Abstract

The present utility model relates to an automated control method for movable shading members of a passenger shelter. The method comprises detecting sunlight using a plurality of photovoltaic sensing elements, determining the direction of incident sunlight based on corresponding sunlight detection inputs, and providing the inputs to a microcontroller. The microcontroller determines a movement response based on the detected sunlight direction and selectively activates one or more motorized drive mechanisms to move corresponding movable shading members. The method further comprises detecting rain using a rain detection sensor and, in response to rain detection, activating the motorized drive mechanisms to move the movable shading members downward. Lower travel-limit detection mechanisms detect corresponding lower movement limits and terminate motor operation. Continued rain is monitored, and when rain is no longer detected, the corresponding motorized drive mechanisms are activated in an upward direction until corresponding upper movement limits are detected by upper travel-limit detection mechanisms, whereupon motor operation is terminated.
