A method for the ultrasonic pressure less welding of a plurality of plastic strips

Abstract

A method for the ultrasonic pressure-less welding of a plurality of plastic strips, comprising stacking the plurality of plastic strips to from a stack; optionally heating the stack to a temperature of at most 120°C; removing the pressure from the stack; positioning an ultrasonic welding apparatus having a sonotrode so that the sonotrode touches the surface of an outermost strip of the stack or penetrates into an outer layer of an outermost strip of the stack at least 5 microns to from a welding zone; adjusting the sonotrode clamping force so that no pressure is placed on the stack; welding at least two strips in the stack together by applying ultrasonic energy to the welding zone; and removing the sonotrode from the welding zone.
