Abstract

A solid disinfection composition comprising (i) an oxidising biocide and (ii) a biocide quencher which is a solid matrix comprising a reducing agent characterized in that the reducing agent selected from the group consisting of C2 C12 organic acids and salts thereof, or one or more inorganic salts selected from sulphites, bisulphites, metabisulphites and thiosulphates is entrapped in a substantially water insoluble material selected from oxide, hydroxide, oxo-hydroxide or carbonate of a metal, where said substantially water insoluble material has solubility in water of less than 1 grams per liter at 25 °C.
