Instant solar altitude angle meter

Abstract

Instant Solar Altitude Angle Meter is an instrument to measure the altitude angle of the sun above the horizon, comprising a rectangular plate 1, with a built in gnomon 2, which cast its shadow 5, on the built in dial 6, and shows the altitude angle of the sun. It is light weight handy and pocket sized. Solar Altitude Angle is an important parameter in the performance tests of solar thermal devices, and is a useful tool in the installation of Solar Voltaic Panels as well, as the solar irradiance is directly proportional to the altitude angle of the sun.
