Abstract
A process for the production of zinc gluconate syrup has been developed by using indigenous raw material. The deionized water used in this process was pretreated with UV light for few minutes. In this process raw materials [sugar, sodium benzoate, carboxy methyl cellulose (CMC), zinc gluconate, methyl paraben (MPB) and propyl paraben (PPB)] were soaked and dissolved individually in deionized water and then stirred in a sterilized vessel. After addition of propylene glycol, food color and flavor, the volume was made upto 100 L by adding deionized water. It was further stirred for some time. The syrup was filtered and stored under sterile conditions. The zinc gluconate syrup (mixed with preservatives) can be used up to 24 months.
