2-(2,4-dimethoxyphenyl)-5-(3-nitrophenyl)-1,3,4-thiadiazole, method of its preparation and medical use

Abstract

The subject of the application is a derivative of 2-(2,4-dimethoxyphenyl)-5-(3-nitrophenyl)-1,3,4-thiadiazole of general formula 1 shown in the drawing and a method for its preparation, wherein 2,4-dimethoxybenzoic acid hydrazide of general formula 2 is reacted with 3-nitrophenyl isothiocyanate of formula 3 in a molar ratio of 1: 1. The reaction is carried out in anhydrous ethanol at the boiling point of the solvent, after which the obtained product is cooled, the precipitate is filtered off and washed preferably with hot water and diethyl ether, and after drying it is crystallized from 96% ethanol. Then, the obtained linear compound 1-(2,4-dimethoxyphenyl)-4-(3-nitrophenyl)thiosemicarbazide (formula 4) is subjected to a cyclization reaction, preferably with concentrated sulfuric acid. The subject of the application is also the use of the derivative of general formula 1 in the treatment of breast cancer, the production of pharmaceuticals for the treatment of breast cancer.
