Novel ammonium ionic liquid, method for its preparation and use

Abstract

The subject of the application is an ammonium ionic liquid, a method for its preparation, and its use. An ammonium ionic liquid from the group of quaternary ionic liquids of formula 1, which is didecyldimethylammonium propionate, consists of a propionic acid anion and a didecyldimethylammonium cation, wherein the didecyldimethylammonium cation contains ammonium nitrogen bonded to four substituents: two methyl groups and two long-chain alkyl groups R1 and R2 containing 10 carbon atoms each. The method of obtaining an ammonium ionic liquid - didecyldimethylammonium propionate, is characterized in that an alkylammonium halide of formula 2, in which R1 and R2 represent long-chain alkyl groups containing 10 carbon atoms each, is reacted with potassium propionate in an aqueous solution of an alkali metal hydroxide, at a temperature not exceeding the boiling point of the solvent, and then the product is separated from the post-reaction mixture.
