Abstract

The present invention relates to a microencapsulation system for micronutrients, where the active ingredient is an essential mineral, optionally combined with a vitamin. The essential mineral is selected from iron, magnesium, copper, potassium, sodium, zinc, and calcium, while the vitamin is selected from vitamin C or B complex. Glycine is used as a stabilizing amino acid, with primary encapsulation using glycerophospholipids selected from lecithin mixtures and secondary encapsulation using a polysaccharide selected from starch, amylopectin, or amylose. Additionally, excipients may be used to aid in drying, including magnesium oxide, silicon dioxide, maltodextrin, acid pyrophosphate, and / or xanthan gum.The preparation method includes preparing an aqueous solution at pH and temperature adjusted, incorporation of the amino acid, primary encapsulation by incorporation of phosphatidylcholine-rich phospholipids, secondary encapsulation by application of polysaccharides, and spray drying or lyophilization.
