The method comprises the following steps: introducing the tobacco leaves in a barrel, under vacuum, and increasing the leaf temperature to 50...55°C to increase their moisture content to 15⋯16%, complete leaf loosening while increasing the moisture content to 17⋯18%, at a temperature ranging between 55...60°C, after which glycerol is added to the tobacco leaves, so as to increase its content to 2⋯6% and to further increase the moisture content of the tobacco leaves to 22⋯23%, followed by leaf storage at a temperature ranging between 30...32°C for 30⋯36 h and by the leaf cutting procedure, to a fixed width in the range of 0.85⋯0.95 mm, then drying the cut tobacco in a tunnel-type drying airflow at a drying temperature of 105...145°C for 90⋯180 s, whereby the cut tobacco dry basis moisture content is calculated using the formula Mt = (mt - me) / me, where mt is the mass of cut tobacco at the moment t and whereby the glycerol retention rate of the dried cut tobacco is calculated based on the following equation: u = Ct / C0 X 100% where C0 is the initial glycerol content of the cut tobacco dry basis.
