Abstract
Description
[0001] Technical field
[0002] The utility model relates to the field of smoking devices and is intended for smoking hookah tobacco, as well as special smoking mixtures using a special device - a hookah, and more specifically, gravity hookahs or bongs.
[0003] Description of analogs
[0004] A hookah is known (see PM RU No. 194694, A24F 1 / 30, 03.12.2018), which consists of a base with liquid, a body vertically and hermetically installed in the neck of the base, having a built-in vertical purge system, a flexible smoking pipe with a connector and a removable personal or disposable mouthpiece; while an upper shaft with a tobacco bowl and a saucer for coal, as well as a lower shaft with a diffuser, immersed in the liquid, are coaxially fixed to the body; the body in the neck of the base and the tobacco bowl on the upper shaft are installed and secured with a silicone seal; the connector of the smoking pipe in the body is held by a magnet.
[0005] Smoke from the shaft enters the bowl, passes through water, and is directed through the outlet into the hose and mouthpiece, and then into the smoker's mouth. Passing the smoke through the water filters and cools it.
[0006] The disadvantage of the analogue is its large dimensions and weight, low mobility.
[0007] The second analogue is the Stündenglass Gravity Bong, see https: / / unicun.com / product / stundenglass-gravity-bong / ?add-to-cart=462026. It consists of a body into which liquid bases are screwed on both ends, a bowl for smoking mixture, and horizontal and vertical channels. A horizontal inlet and outlet channel for smoke passes through the body. The body also has a vertical channel for liquid flow from one base to the other. The body is mounted on a stationary base that can rotate around a horizontal axis.
[0008] The second analogue works as follows.
[0009] Pour liquid into the lower bulb. Rotate the housing and bulbs 180 degrees. This causes liquid to flow from the upper bulb to the lower bulb. A vacuum is created in the upper bulb, drawing air through the bowl, the vertical channel, and then into the upper bulb. Ignite the smoking mixture in the bowl. The resulting smoke begins to be drawn into the upper bulb. When all the liquid from the upper bulb has flowed into the lower bulb, rotate the housing and bulbs 180 degrees again. This causes the bulbs to switch places. The resulting portion of smoke ends up in the lower bulb. The liquid ends up in the upper bulb and immediately begins to flow through the vertical channel in the housing into the lower bulb, displacing a portion of smoke from the lower bulb into the smoker's mouthpiece. The smoke from the lower bulb is supported by the pressure of the water flowing from the upper bulb to the lower bulb. The smoker does not have to make any effort to get the smoke into the smoker's mouth. It flows there automatically under the pressure of water flowing from the upper flask to the lower one, which increases the convenience of using such a hookah (bong).
[0010] The disadvantage of the second analogue is its large dimensions and weight (5.5 kg), which determine its low mobility, since the device is installed on a stationary platform.
[0011] Closest analogue (prototype)
[0012] The closest analog (prototype) chosen is the hookah patented by US Patent No. 4,140,138, issued February 20, 1979, which has a similar operating principle and design to the second analog. This device comprises a housing mounted so as to rotate around a central transverse axis, which is formed by a hollow metal tube extending through the housing. A smoking bowl is mounted on one end of the metal tube, and a smoke outlet is provided on the opposite end. A supporting handle is attached to the metal tube. The housing is designed to accommodate liquid containers. The housing contains a vertical smoke channel, a vertical liquid channel, and horizontal inlet and outlet smoke channels, separated by a transverse partition.
[0013] The closest analogue differs from the device by the following features:
[0014] The presence of rigid vertical smoke channels-tubes of large diameter, which are rigidly fixed in the body.
[0015] The vertical channels for water passage are made straight.
[0016] Water tanks have a strictly defined shape, dimensions, and threaded connection to the body. The use of other tanks is not possible.
[0017] These differences limit the possibilities of application and cause the following disadvantages:
[0018] large dimensions and weight of the device.
[0019] low mobility, since even when disassembled, the device requires a large container for transportation.
[0020] inability to use containers that are at hand at the place where the hookah is used.
[0021] The technical problem that the utility model is aimed at solving is increasing the mobility of the device, reducing its dimensions and weight.
[0022] Disclosure of the essence of the utility model
[0023] This technical problem is solved by a hookah comprising a housing mounted so that it can rotate around a central transverse axis, which is formed by a hollow horizontal tube extending through the housing. A smoking bowl is mounted on one end of the tube, and a smoke outlet is located on the opposite end. A supporting handle is attached to the tube. The housing is designed to accommodate liquid containers. The housing contains a vertical smoke channel, a vertical liquid channel, and horizontal inlet and outlet smoke channels, separated by a transverse partition.
[0024] A novel feature of this utility model is that the vertical smoke channel is detachable and includes at least two removable flexible tubes mounted within the housing. The housing is equipped with sealing elements that ensure a tight seal between the flexible tubes and the housing during hookah assembly.
[0025] Thanks to the vertical smoke channel being made of flexible tubes, the device can be disassembled into compact pieces that fit easily in the palm of a hand. This reduces the device's size and weight during transport, increasing its mobility.
[0026] In particular cases of implementation, the utility model may be characterized by the following features.
[0027] The housing can be designed to connect to external liquid containers used at the hookah's operating location and is equipped with sealing elements in the form of rubber rings at the connection points. This allows the use of readily available containers (such as plastic drink bottles) at the site of use, eliminating the need for transportation and further reducing the weight of the portable device.
[0028] During assembly, the flexible tubes can be installed into conical holes in the housing with an angle of 7 to 11 degrees from the bore axis. This geometry ensures a reliable and tight connection between the flexible tubes and the housing by creating tension.
[0029] The sealing elements can be designed as two rubber rings, designed to seal the horizontal tube that forms the transverse axis of rotation of the housing. This ensures a tight seal between the sliding connection of the housing and the fixed tube.
[0030] Elastic tubes can be made of silicone, rubber or other elastic polymer material, which ensures their flexibility, durability and the ability to fold compactly during transportation.
[0031] The hookah can be equipped with a quick-change adapter for connecting to liquid containers with different neck sizes. This expands the device's compatibility with various container types.
[0032] The smoking bowl and supporting handle can be made quickly removable (for example, on a thread), which further increases mobility and reduces the dimensions of the device when disassembled.
[0033] The body can be made of plastic, which ensures ease of manufacture and technological advancement (for example, by 3D printing or injection molding).
[0034] The body can be made of several interconnected parts, which simplifies its manufacture and assembly.

[0038] Fig. 2 - general view of the assembled structure (from the side) with a vertical section;
[0039] Fig. 3 shows a general sectional view of the housing.
[0040] Implementation of a utility model
[0041] The hookah (Fig. 1-3) includes a body 1, in which a through vertical smoke channel is made, formed by the upper 16 and lower 17 elastic tubes, and a horizontal smoke channel 3, formed by a metal tube 13. Inside the tube 13, a transverse sealed partition 5 is installed, separating the inlet and outlet horizontal smoke channels. In the body 1, a vertical curved channel 6 for the flow of water 7 is also made. On one side of the tube 13, a quickly removable smoking bowl 8 is installed, on the opposite side - a quickly removable handle 10 (holder). Tube 13 forms a horizontal axis of rotation 9 of body 1. Containers 11 and 12 for water 7 are connected to body 1 from above and below using threaded necks 20 and 21. Improvised means, such as plastic bottles with a capacity of 0.33-0.5 liters, can be used as containers 11, 12.
[0042] The vertical smoke channel is detachable and consists of two removable elastic tubes: an upper tube (16) and a lower tube (17) (e.g., made of silicone with an outer diameter of 12 mm and an inner diameter of 9 mm). Tubes (16) and (17) are inserted into corresponding conical openings (18) and (19) in housing (1). The angle of the cone's deflection from the axis of openings (18) and (19) is selected within the range of 7 to 11 degrees, ensuring reliable tension and a tight seal during installation.
[0043] To seal the connections, the housing 1 is equipped with sealing elements. Rubber sealing rings 23 and 24 are installed in the annular grooves 22 of the threaded necks 20 and 21 to ensure a tight connection between the containers 11 and 12. Left 25 and right 26 rubber sealing rings are provided to seal the gap between the rotating housing 1 and the stationary tube 13.
[0044] In the tube 13, a through vertical hole 15 is made for the passage of smoke from the smoking bowl 8 into the upper container 11, as well as a hole 27 for the passage of smoke from the lower container 12 into the right part of the tube 13 and further to the exit (from the side of the handle 10).
[0045] The smoking bowl 8 and handle 10 are made quickly removable and are screwed onto the thread into the ends of the tube 13.
[0046] Body 1 can be made of plastic (for example, by 3D printing), has a spindle-shaped form (max. diameter 45 mm, height 90 mm) and can be composed of several parts.
[0047] The device operates as follows.
[0048] Before use, assemble the hookah. The smoking bowl 8 and handle 10 are screwed into tube 13. Silicone tubes 16 and 17 are tightly installed into conical openings 18 and 19 of body 1. One of the containers (for example, 12) is filled with water 7. Then, the containers are screwed onto threaded necks 20 and 21 of body 1: the empty upper container 11 and the lower container 12 filled with water, with the free ends of tubes 16 and 17 positioned inside the containers. The user holds the assembled structure by the handle 10.
[0049] The user holds the device by the handle 10 with one hand, and with the other hand lights the smoking mixture in the bowl 8 and rotates the body 1 180 degrees. The container 12 with water 7 ends up on top. Under the force of gravity, the water 7 begins to flow along the curved vertical channel 6 into the lower container 11. A vacuum is created in the upper container 12, which draws air (and then smoke from the smoldering mixture) from the smoking bowl 8 through the opening 15, the cavity of the tube 13, and the vertical channel (tube 16) into the upper container 12, where the smoke accumulates.
[0050] After all the water has flowed, the user performs a second 180-degree rotation of the body. Container 11 (now with water) is on top, and container 12 (with smoke) is on the bottom. Water from the upper container 11 again flows through channel 6 into the lower container 12. The pressure of the flowing water forces the smoke accumulated in container 12 through tube 17, opening 27, into the right side of tube 13, and then out (into the smoker's mouth) through the outlet on the side of handle 10. Simultaneously, a vacuum is created in the upper container 11, which draws in a new portion of smoke from bowl 8. The cycles are repeated with each 180-degree rotation of the body. The smoker does not need to exert effort to inhale – the smoke is supplied by the pressure of the flowing water. After use, the hookah disassembles into its component parts (body 1, tubes 16 and 17, bowl 8, and handle 10), which are compactly folded for transport. Containers 11 and 12 are either disposed of or used for their intended purpose.
[0051] Technical result
[0052] The use of a detachable vertical smoke channel made of removable elastic tubes 16, 17, in combination with the new design of the body 1 made it possible to reduce the weight of the device (up to 300 g) and its dimensions when disassembled (the parts fit in the palm of your hand and can be carried in your pocket), which significantly increases the mobility of the declared hookah in comparison with the prototype.
[0053] The design of the housing 1 with the ability to connect to external (handy) containers 11, 12 for liquid made it possible to exclude bulky containers from the composition of the transported parts, which further reduces the weight and dimensions of the transported set and increases the mobility of the device in comparison with the prototype.
[0054] A prototype of the proposed hookah has been manufactured and successfully tested, confirming that the technical objectives have been met. Serial production is planned using domestic materials and a manufacturing facility.
