Reference glass materials with increased lithium content for direct elemental analyses and method of their preparation

Abstract

Reference materials with an increased lithium content for direct elemental analysis are characterized by the glass containing 55 to 75 wt. % SiO2, 7 to 15 wt. % Na2O, 6 to 15 wt. % CaO, up to 3.5 wt. % Al2O3, up to 3.5 wt. % K2O and up to 12 wt. % Li2O, with a relative standard deviation (RSD) of the homogeneous distribution of elements in the glass, determined by laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS), of less than or equal to 5 %.
