Description

Insecticide composition and method for controlling pests

[0001] The present invention relates to an insecticidal composition containing a diamide-based insecticidal active ingredient and exhibiting good pest control effects, and to a method for controlling pests.

[0002] Diamide insecticidal components are effective in controlling harmful insects of the Lepidoptera (butterflies and moths), Hemiptera (true bugs), Diptera (flies), and Coleoptera (beetles), and are known as excellent insecticidal components that exhibit high selectivity between these insects and non-target organisms, including mammals and natural enemy insects (Patent Document 1).

[0003] Furthermore, pesticide compositions are broadly classified into dosage forms such as powders, granules, wettable powders, granular wettable powders, water-soluble powders, granular water-soluble powders, emulsions, liquids, oils, flowables, emulsion formulations, fine granules, tablets, and jumbo formulations. Of these dosage forms, emulsions are the oldest type of formulation and basically consist of pesticide active ingredients, organic solvents, and surfactants. Emulsions can be easily manufactured by simply mixing and dissolving the raw materials, and they have various advantages such as excellent pest control effects and low cost, making them one of the formulations that are still widely used today.

[0004] Emulsions must be used or stored in cold climates, and solvents that adequately dissolve the pesticide active ingredient are required to prevent separation of oily substances or sedimentation of solids when stored at low temperatures. Conventionally, nonpolar solvents such as aromatic hydrocarbons (xylene, etc.) have been commonly used, but the pesticide active ingredients that can be dissolved are limited to those with low polarity. Furthermore, aromatic hydrocarbons have problems such as inhalation toxicity, fire hazard, and concerns about air pollution.

[0005] On the other hand, most diamide insecticidal active ingredients are practically insoluble in nonpolar solvents. While they dissolve relatively well in highly polar solvents, when a formulation dissolved in such a solvent is diluted with water, the solvent dissolves in the water (or water dissolves in the solvent) in the diluted solution, reducing the solubility of the active ingredient, causing crystals to precipitate, and often resulting in a decrease in the pest control effect.

[0006] For example, Patent Document 1 describes an emulsion using the diamide insecticidal components brofranilide, dimethyl sulfoxide, sorbol, and xylene, but it does not describe the pest control effect.

[0007] Patent Document 2 discloses a pesticide emulsion composition that exhibits excellent emulsification even when the pesticide active ingredient has low solubility in water and xylene, and that is substantially free of aromatic hydrocarbon organic solvents and phenyl ether surfactants. However, the polar solvent used in this patent document is limited to N-alkylpyrrolidones such as N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone, and there is no description of its pest control effect.

[0009] The problem that this invention aims to solve is to provide an insecticidal composition containing a diamide-based insecticidal active ingredient that exhibits excellent pest control effects.

[0010] As a result of diligent research, the inventors have found that by dissolving an insecticidal active ingredient in a solvent having a specific range of dielectric constant and transition energy, and combining it with a nonionic surfactant, an insecticidal composition can be obtained that has improved pest control effects and also exhibits excellent emulsification properties and storage stability when diluted with water.

[0011] In other words, the present invention is as follows [1] to [9]: [1] (1) a diamide-based insecticidal active ingredient and (2) relative dielectric constant (ε r ) is 5 or more, and the transition energy (E T (30) A solvent having a dielectric constant of 38 kcal / mol or more, (3) a nonionic surfactant, and (4) a nonpolar solvent contained in an amount of less than 30% by weight of the whole composition. [2] (2) Relative dielectric constant of the solvent (ε r ) is 5 or more and 78 or less, and the transition energy (E T(30) The composition according to [1] wherein the amount is 38 kcal / mol or more and 52 kcal / mol or less. [3] The composition according to [1] or [2] wherein (1) the diamide insecticide is brofuranilide. [4] (2) The composition according to any one of [1] to [3], wherein the solvent is one or more selected from the group consisting of 1,3-dimethyl-2-imidazolidinone, N,N'-dimethylpropylene urea, N-methylpyrrolidone, N,N-dimethylformamide, dimethyl sulfoxide, 3-methoxy-N,N-dimethylpropanamide, N-butylpyrrolidone, cyclohexanone, 3-butoxy-N,N-dimethylpropanamide, 5-(dimethylamino)-2-methyl-5-oxopentanoate methyl, N,N-dimethyloctanamide, dimethyl lactate, N,N-dimethyldecanamide, γ-butyrolactone, 3-methyl-2-oxazodone, ethylene glycol monomethyl ether, and benzyl alcohol. [5] (3) The composition according to any one of [1] to [4], wherein the nonionic surfactant is a phenyl ether-based surfactant. [6] The composition according to [5], wherein the phenyl ether surfactant is a formalin condensate of polyoxyalkylene (mono, di, or tri)styrylphenyl ether. [7] The composition according to any one of [1] to [6], wherein (1) the content of the diamide insecticidal active ingredient is 0.1 to 30% by weight of the whole composition. [8] The composition according to any one of [1] to [7], characterized in that the composition is liquid. [9] A method for controlling harmful organisms, comprising applying the insecticidal composition according to any one of [1] to [8] to plants, soil, or water surfaces.

[0012] The present invention provides an insecticidal composition with excellent pest control effects by dissolving a diamide-based insecticidal active ingredient in a solvent having a specific dielectric constant and transition energy as the main solvent, and a nonpolar solvent used as needed, and combining it with a nonionic surfactant. Furthermore, this composition has excellent storage stability and emulsification stability, and since it does not contain a nonpolar solvent such as aromatic hydrocarbons (xylene, etc.) as the main solvent, there are fewer concerns regarding inhalation toxicity, fire hazard, and air pollution.

The investigation was conducted after two days, and the mortality rate was calculated using the following formula. The test was conducted in two sections. Mortality rate (%) = {Number of dead insects / (Number of dead insects + Number of surviving insects)} × 100 The evaluation criteria were: ○: Mortality rate (%) = 80% or higher, ×: Mortality rate (%) = less than 80%. The results are shown in Table 1.

[0060]

[0061] [Test Example 2] Emulsification Stability Test 100 mL of hard water (3 degrees Celsius) was placed in a 100 mL graduated cylinder, and 0.1 mL each of the insecticidal compositions obtained in the examples and comparative examples were added. The graduated cylinder was inverted to emulsify uniformly. After the diluted solution was left to stand at 25°C for 2 hours, its appearance was observed visually and judged according to the following criteria.
