Abstract
This patent discloses a novel method to use Silicon dioxide nanoparticles (SiO2 NPs) for controlling Fusarium wilt in fruit trees, with a particular emphasis on olive trees. Fusarium wilt, caused by the pathogenic fungus Fusarium spp., poses a significant threat to agricultural crops globally, including olive cultivation. The disclosed invention demonstrates the method of using 20 and 200 ppm of SiO2 NPs to inhibit Fusarium growth, mycelium colour, and conidia number. Furthermore, the application of SiO2 NPs to Fusarium reduces its pathogenicity on olive leaves and stems, highlighting the loss of fungal virulence. This provides insight into the application of NPs as a biofungicide in the agrochemical sector.
