Composition of a Bacillus licheniformis-based consortium with dual bio-fungicidal and biostimulant action of the immune system and its method of use

Abstract

The present invention relates to a bacterial composition comprising at least four strains of Bacillus licheniformis having strong antifungal activity and stimulating plant defenses. This composition is prepared by isolating endophytic bacterial strains, followed by reconstitution of the consortium at equivalent concentrations of 0.5-0.6 McFarland, and includes 1% of the B. licheniformis consortium, 0.5% yeast extract, 0.5% NaCl, and 1% tryptone. It is used as a biofungicide and biostimulant for the protection of plants against phytopathogenic diseases caused by necrotrophic fungi, such as Phoma medicaginis, and biotrophic fungi, such as Verticillium alfalfae, in the field and under cover, for preventive purposes, at concentrations of 1*108 to 1*109 CFU mL-1 either by seed coating or by spraying.
