Baluster bending training bench

Abstract

The present invention is a training bench for simple bending tests that allows the behavior of a material (a test specimen) to be evaluated when subjected to forces that induce stresses normal to the cross-sections of a beam. This device, called a "baluster bending test bench," offers the possibility of measuring precise mechanical parameters of a specimen subjected to bending stresses. This bench consists of: (see Figure 1) • A frame made up of a plate (0), a mounting bracket (1), and a guide plate (3) connected by fixing screws. • Two support arms (2) that can rotate symmetrically thanks to the pivot joint relative to the frame. This rotational movement is achieved by rotating the control rod (4) in order to vary the active length of the specimen (6). • A load (8) attached to the specimen (6) creates a force relative to the mass of the load, causing the specimen to bend. • A dial indicator (7) attached to the support (9) allows the deflection of the specimen to be determined during the simple bending test.
