Abstract

This invention relates to a modular seating support system that can be operated manually and electronically, supporting postural control by providing tactile and proprioceptive input needed by individuals with sensory processing disorders while sitting; its features include a sensory back module (1) and sensory seat module (2) with a soft or hard material structure and a textured or honeycomb pattern or gel-filled surface, at least one belt (3) fixed to both the back and seat sections of the seating unit to prevent the person from sliding and to ensure the correct sitting position, at least one surface transition mechanism (7) in which the sensory back module (1) and sensory seat module (2) are mounted in different planes, at least one DC motor (4) that provides movement of the belts (7.1), a control circuit (5) that controls the direction of rotation and speed of the DC motor (4) and is configured to start and stop the motor (4), and a battery (6) that provides power to the electronic components.
