Autonomous maritime surface vehicles

Abstract

An autonomous maritime surface vehicle (AMSV) includes a passive remote sensing system and excludes or does not operate any on-board active remote sensing system. The passive remote sensing system includes a stereovision system. The AMSV further includes a control system configured to generate a control signal based on data provided by the passive remote sensing system, and a locomotion system configured to at least one of move or orient the AMSV, e.g., while the AMSV is operating on or in a body of water, responsive to the control signal generated by the control system. In some implementations, the control signal is not based on any data provided by any active remote sensing system on-board the AMSV. The AMSV may move and / or orient itself autonomously, that is, without receiving and / or utilizing any control signals from other vehicles and / or from computing devices or systems which are not on-board the AMSV.
