Cross-flow kite power system and method of the same

Abstract

This invention describes the concept of a new configuration of cross-flow kite power system and its operation method. An analytical model was developed as an analysis and design method for the design of the system and, especially, to design the generator turbine to match the kite in order to obtain maximal power. By these analysis and design, this invention describes a preferred kite-turbine system that uses a turbine of a power coefficient much lower than the Betz limit but can capture higher power. This invention also comprises a new spit-module configuration of kite power system and a new arrangement for mooring multiple units of kite power system in series.
