Abstract

An electronic device is provided that facilitates obtaining accurate visual information. This device includes a display device, a reflective and refractive optical system, and a light source emitting infrared light. The display device includes a light-emitting element and a light-receiving element within each pixel. The reflective and refractive optical system forms two different optical paths: one between the eye surface and the light-receiving element, and the other between the light-emitting element and the retina. Visible light is used between the light-emitting element and the retina, and infrared light is used between the eye surface and the light-receiving element. Furthermore, a semi-reflective mirror that allows light of a wavelength independent of the optical path to pass through is used in each optical path. This allows adjustment of the focal distance of each optical path.
