A method of transferring a contact lens

Abstract

Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are disclosed for transferring a contact lens from a lens transfer tip configured to support a concave side of the contact lens to a lens transfer tip configured to support a convex side of the contact lens, for example such that a convex side of the contact lens may be exposed when released. A concave-down orientation of the contact lens may allow for inspection of the contact lens, treatment of the contact lens, and / or a wearer to remove the contact lens from a container more easily (e.g., for placement onto the eye). Manipulation of a contact lens to a concave-down orientation may add significant complexity to the process of packaging the contact lens. In particular, contact lenses may require a precise handoff between lens holding tips (e.g., for inspection, treatment, packaging).
