Channel-group based coding of digital waveform data

Abstract

An encoder and decoder are for encoding into or decoding from a data stream digital waveform data comprising a one or more channels. The encoder is configured to group the one or more channels into one or more channel groups, encode the one or more channels into payload packets channel-group wise and frame wise so that each packet is associated with a channel group and has exclusively encoded a frame of one or more channels thereinto which are within the channel group with which the respective packet is associated.
